This is the home page of the Freewheels Club of Cranford, NJ, and the Cranford BMX/Skatepark Initiative. We got our start by organizing the BMX and Skateboard riders of Cranford into a cohesive club. The young riders called themselves Freewheels, and designed their own logo. They number at least 200 and range broadly in age. Our first meeting drew about 80 children and adults, most of whom gave personal testimony about getting ticketed by Cranford police and paying fines for practicing their sports. We listened and understood other perspectives as well, including safety and property damage. It's a no-brainer: get a park for these kids! Everyone will benefit. |
There are still no legal places to park bicycles in downtown Cranford. We have successfully united various advocates to create a BMX/Skatepark in Cranford. The parents' group the Cranford Skatepark Association intends to raise their own money and build the park to state-of- the-art standards. Visit their website at cranfordskatepark.com and volunteer your time, money, support, and/or your materials. We thank the kind moms and dads who took up the cause and for acting on behalf of Cranford's kids.

The Freewheels Club remains a separate entity, raising money for children's activities such as our helmet
